Since their inception in 1995, the Newcastle Master Builders Association Excellence in Building Awards have grown to become the unrivalled benchmark for our region’s construction industry.
Backed by the Master Builders Association – the voice of the building industry in our region since 1874 – these awards are a prestigious mark of quality. As an independent member of the National Master Builders movement, we have promoted integrity and workmanship across the Hunter, Central Coast, Manning Great Lakes, and Oxley regions for over 150 years.

The Newcastle Excellence in Building Awards encourage, promote, and recognise best practice in Residential, Commercial, and Civil construction.
Critically, these awards are open to the entire industry, not just MBA members. This inclusivity ensures that the competition is genuine and that a win here truly represents the pinnacle of building standards in the region.

Credibility
A Rigorous Judging Process
What sets the Master Builders Association awards apart is the credibility of the judging process. Entries are not judged solely on photographs. To ensure a fair playing field across all price divisions and categories, every entry is:
- Personally Inspected by a panel of eminent industry judges.
- Assessed on-site, where judges interview key personnel to understand the specific complexities, innovations, and solutions involved in the project.
The Gala & Pathway to Nationals
The awards season culminates in our prestigious Gala Presentation Evening, held annually at The NEX (Newcastle Exhibition and Convention Centre).
Supported by a record number of entries in recent years, the Newcastle Awards are more than just a local celebration – they are a proven pathway to national recognition. Numerous winners from the Hunter Region have gone on to successfully compete and win at the Annual Master Builders National Awards.
